Half Moon Bay Cocktail

Half Moon Bay is on the central California coast. It is home to the big wave spot, Mavericks. This cocktail is named after this stretch of coast. The coconut milk makes it tropical, and the gin brings a touch of the nearby Los Padres National Forest. The pandan extract creates an unexpected play between the drink’s color and its taste. And on our last post we highlighted the orange blossom orgeat.

Ingredients:

2 oz. gin

1/2 oz. orange blossom orgeat (or normal orgeat if you don’t want to make it)

3/4 oz. lime juice

3 drops pandan extract

2 oz. coconut milk

Combine all ingredients in a shaker, fill with ice, and shake intensely for 7 seconds. Fill a Collins glass tall with crushed ice, and strain the contents into it. Garnish with a pineapple leaf or mint.
